Freedom of science manifesto
Introduction ^
Science is the activity which defines humans as human.
Freedom of science is the most fundamental human right.
Since the beginning of history scientific authority resided with deities not with humans. This transfer of scientific authority from a deity to humanity is an urgent human rights issue.
What is the best method to achieve the goal of transferring the scientific authority from a deity to humanity?
Newton used a sophisticated marketing campaign to create a deity with the same name as himself. To undeify Newton we must use today’s best available marketing techniques.
A brand with cosmogonic associations is called a religion. Newton is a brand with cosmogonic associations and a set of laws legislating how we should perceive the world around us.
Once humans discovered that a deity was a product of marketers who wanted to control humans, humans no longer were fooled by deities. This is why today branded humans are called celebrities. The move from absolute to the rational always indicates scientific progress. In this case when humans started to doubt absoluteness of deities they made progress toward the rational and toward science.
The hagiographic poetry Newton inserted as the Preface to his book he called “a book of rational mechanics” was a standard marketing technique at the time. Newton elevated book marketing to new heights by deifying himself. In additional marketing moves, Newton reviewed his own book to penetrate the Continental market, he included a popularized version of the book dubbed the System of the World, and created a valuable network of allies, enemies, acolytes and disciples to perpetuate his school.
Marketing is the fundamental process of nature ^
The establishment of the network was a well-known marketing technique used by previous founders of brands, such as Confucius, Jesus, Paul and many others. Newton was one of the grand masters of polar networking. By establishing his school during his lifetime Newton also made sure that his religion will continue after he died. Newton started the deification process and the well-oiled British marketing department picked it up from there.
The British perfected their branding methods during their colonization of the world. Based on the same colonization methods Newton brand was invented as the British scientific standard to unify the disparate European science.
The goal of unifying the European science has been achieved spectacularly. Once the Continental Europeans accepted the British standard of science after a strong resistance they set out to contribute to Newtonism by creating their own national flavor of it. This is a classic marketing technique and it is a very predictable European behavior. Again and again Europeans go through the same motions of differentiation while dealing with their neighbors. If French Descartes claims the universe to be a plenum you are sure to know that the British Newton automatically will claim the universe to be a vacuum. If one European nation turns left while uttering some ritualistic word during prayer you will be sure that the neighboring nation will turn right while uttering the same word. Each neighbor will then claim that its own method is the absolute true method and will try to impose it on his neighbor. Major European wars have their origins in far lesser differences than this. Europeans take their standards seriously.
Scholasticism is harmful to human mind and habitat ^
Therefore narrow minded petty European Scholastic Doctors with inflated national egos tried to make British Newton their own. The French created Laplace who wrote giant tomes with megalomaniacal titles causing serious damage to European forests. Laplace’s monumental books made British Newton’s cosmogonic speculations palatable to French Scholastic Doctors. In other words, Laplace created the French sect of Newtonism. This is what Europeans think science is.
The European society is a scholastic society controlled by a professional class called Doctors. These Doctors enjoy a state sponsored monopoly on human reason. To protect their monopoly Doctors hide whatever knowledge they may have and obstruct the progress of human knowledge in order to advance their own careers. This is the reason why Europeans could not make any discernible progress for thousands of years. Scholasticism is in their nature. Any European citizen who knows any little thing will hoard it instead of sharing it. He would then pass his snippet of knowledge treasure to his children who will then hoard it. And so on.
The European political system and scholastic system were structured the same way: The King/Scholastic Master, the Parliament/the School, and Constituency/Students. Europeans even thought Copernicus verified the social structure of Europe by placing the Sun King at the center of the Universe. This social framework shaped the European psyche and how they perceived the world.
Political freedom leads to freedom of science ^
Then why didn’t Founding Fathers issue a scientific declaration of independence against British Newton the self-declared King of Mechanics?
One reason is that Newtonism was still nascent. Franklin could have met Newton had he cared. Instead Franklin denied Newton’s authority and Newton’s absurd laws as strongly as he denied the unjust laws of the King of Britain. Because Franklin was a free citizen of a free country who denied any kind of authority of the British oppressors that he was able to make the brilliant scientific discoveries that he made.
Only a generation after the founders Newtonism could infiltrate the educational system in the new continent.
A new religion always defines itself as science and the old religion as religion ^
We are now at a stage very similar to the state of education at Cambridge when Newton entered Cambridge. At the time a mixture of Christianity and Peripatetic canon was taught by Doctors of Theology as scientific knowledge.
At every era Doctors of Philosophy define the meaning of the word science. Doctors always define science as true knowledge. This true knowledge always corresponds to whatever it is that Doctors have been working on at the time. So today, reading the mind of God is defined as science by Doctors.
Christianity defined paganism as paganism and itself as true science. Newtonism defined itself as the true science and the Christian/Peripatetic mixture as scholasticism.
Newtonism is the state religion ^
Today the Newtonist religion itself is taught in schools as science. Only after going through the mandatory Newtonist indoctrination that a student is allowed to go into a scientific field, whether it be biology, technology or engineering. The damage is done when the human beings learn the occult Newtonist doctrine first. What we learn first acquires the quality of truth and cannot be easily changed since it defines what comes after it. The Newtonist occult religion first corrupts students’ mind and then defines the Newtonist occult world as the true Nature.
Removing Newtonism from the education process will free a tremendous amount of human intellectual energy. Humans’ perception of the world will change. A scientific progress now unimaginable will follow.
Seize this historic moment ^
When you realize as a human being that this is a historic moment you must rejoice. Scientific authority was never controlled by humans themselves. Science is the most human of all human endeavors and humans have no control on science.
It is well known that this process of branding of religion as science has been going on since the beginning of history.
The tradition has it that it was Thales of Miletus who first recognized religion of his time as branding. He saw that eliminating the marketing images led to science.
By the time of Galileo Doctors had established their strong monopoly on human reason and progress had come to a halt.
Galileo too was a brilliant marketer. Marketing is not a bad word as far as science is concerned. Galileo used the new media to great effect and created a new consumer class, what we call today the “intelligent laymen.” These are the people who still buy Galileo’s books and other similar popular science books.
Newton was a corrupt scholastic doctor who used marketing to deify himself. Newton saw the opportunity of dominating the European science by branding himself as the new British standard of science.
By the first law of branding, Newton defined himself as science and peripatetic Doctors as Scholastics. Newton also chose the title of the book of his school very strategically.
Peripatetic doctors converted to Newtonian doctors ^
Scholastic Doctors before Newton called themselves Peripatetic Philosophers to indicate that they were disciples of Aristotle. After Newton the same Doctors of Philosophy started to call themselves Natural Philosophers to indicate that they were disciples of Newton. In the 19th century Newtonian Doctors adjusted to changing times and dropped the offensive word “philosopher” and started calling themselves physicists. Great Natural Philosophers of the 19th century, such as Faraday, objected to be called merely a physicist, like a pharmacist, but the marketing department of the Scholastic corporation insisted that the association of the profession with philosophy be severed and that was the final word.
Since the British has been master marketers and brand casters, they continued Newton’s marketing initiatives and established the Newton brand by creating the slogan Newton is Science is Physics is Nature.
Newtonism is taught to us with the alphabet and for most people the statement “Newtonism is religion” would sound absurd. They have no way of perceiving Newtonism as religion. Their rational thinking short circuits when it comes to Newtonism. “Newtonism is religion” sounds to most people like the statement “your alphabet is wrong.”
Both the alphabet and Newtonism are standards. By accepting an alphabet as standard communication is made possible.
In the case of accepting an occult British dogma as the scientific standard the progress of science is stopped.
Human individuals become successful scientists in proportion to their ability to ignore the Newtonist religion.
Freedom from colonialism of the mind ^
By removing Newtonist religion humans will free themselves from a human standard imposed on them as the true standard of nature. This is what the British have been doing in the political realm for a long time. The British colonizer defines himself as the true standard of civilization and the true standard of humanity. The colonized then is told to buy the goods sold by this standard of civilization in order to improve their lot.
From the perspective of the British, colonization is a marketing technique to add value to their products by creating a desirable lifestyle. By associating their products with this “cool” lifestyle the British increase their profit margins. This is what Apple does. The technique is the same.
Marketing a product with the associated desirable lifestyle makes the consumer to believe that by buying the product they will buy the lifestyle as well. The system is simple, it is transparent, it is obvious but it works.
It takes a generation for the colonized to start doubting that the British is not the true standard of civilization. Then it takes generations to unite and then more time to kick the colonizer out of the country. No other nation in the world has been kicked out of more places than the British.
By infiltrating the education system of the potential colony the British realized that they did not have to do the legwork. The people indoctrinated with British values simply became ripe to accept the British as the true standard of civilization.
The British have established standards in many fields. It takes a sophisticated marketing department to establish a rather common recycler of popular low brow plays as the true standard of English language.
Similarly, it takes a slick marketing machinery to establish an openly occultist Doctor of Philosophy as the standard of science.
Force as faith, experiment as miracle ^
These ugly self-serving British standards are taught in schools all over the world as true standards and accepted as religious truths by people who never read the original works. Students have no choice. No student can question the Cavendish miracle taught as a scientific experiment. They must accept the Newtonist religion in its entirety or fail.
But knowing the above does not change the status quo. The incumbent myth has tremendous advantage because it was there first.
What is the reaction of a reader who reads the above argument? ^
I believe that 99 per cent of human population is not interested in reading about Newtonism. They just don’t care. And rightly so. Unless there is a movie released by a major studio starring a mega celebrity, a love story, some comic relief — standard Hollywood fare — sending the population the message that Newtonism is Religion nothing will change in the mind of the majority of humans.
The small group of people who prefer to read the books rather than to see the movie would be divided as well.
There may be a group of readers who never thought about the issue this way and they may decide to investigate further. Their job will not be easy. Newtonism is 300 years old. There is more commentary written in 300 years on Newton than there was commentary written on Aristotle in 2000 years.
Another group will declare Newtonism is religion stuff to be utter nonsense. For them Newton discovered the law of nature called Newton’s law of gravity. If Newton were wrong all the satellites orbiting the earth would fall to earth since Newton’s laws keep them in orbit. It is true, they would say, Newton’s laws are not perfect but that was taken care of by Einstein. Case closed. Newton is science.
Another group of readers may find some of the ideas interesting and they may agree with some and disagree with others.
None of the readers will change his or her mind drastically and do something about it. Even if they agree that it would be good to remove Newtonism from education they would not know how to do it.
Newtonist religion corrupts education ^
Education is a field controlled by big publishers. The unstated goal of education is to produce good consumers. Education shapes a human being into a consumer. Education wastes the most productive years of human individuals by teaching how to become a consumer instead of a producer. What is called education includes vast stretches of time during which students are allowed to acquire the taste of the ideal consumer life of no work, all play, free money and free consumer items to get addicted to.
Newtonism is part of this system. Newtonism is the religion sold as the standard of science. The publishers sell their textbooks to schools controlled by the state and teachers have no choice about what to teach. Newton’s Soul as the true and scientific substance permeating the entire Nature is taught to students. This doctrine permanently alters the perception of the student and makes a rational perception of the world impossible.
Humans look at a falling stone and see a stone attracted by Newton’s Soul emanating from the Earth. This is religion and this religion is taught in public schools.
How to change this state of things? How to remove this ugly occult British religion from the world's schools?
This can only be done by taking legal action against institutions who are teaching Newtonist religion as science.
The goal is not to reform education or how Newtonism is taught. The goal is to transfer the scientific authority from a deity called Newton to the people. The goal is to disinfect education from Newtonist virus.
Since marketing was used to deify Newton, marketing must be used to undeify Newton. The current wave of free software, the recent understanding of what software really is, the general distaste of people with idols and unhuman monopolies make our time perfect for bringing Newton’s three centuries old unjust reign to an end.
Newton is a strong brand which established a new category ^
A product which creates a new market category establishes a standard. The product category is then known by the brand name of the product which established the market. Newton is a powerful brand which shapes how we view the world at the most fundamental level of perception and language.
The same marketing methods has been used to create the publishing phenomenon called the Bible. What we know today as the Bible was the first product in a market which it created. This is the only reason the absurd mixture of history, mythology, fiction, slut, puns and attempts to create celebrities marketed by the most successful book tour in history is still in print and dominates its market.
Bible means book in Aramaic. The Bible was simply the first book. As the first in a market it created the Bible became a word-brand like Kleenex or Xerox. Before the Bible there was no book with pages. There were scrolls and writing tablets but no books. In its time, the portable book was as revolutionary as the laptop and the Internet are today. Bible’s authority comes from being first in a market it created.
Newton’s book the Principia was written to be the Bible of its field it created. Once Newton established the Newtonist school and wrote its book and defined a popular marketing name for the profession and the parishioners, a new market was born. We might as well say that Newton rebranded Scholasticism.
Newton was more like a modern corporate raider. He saw that European scholasticism has been weakened by Galileo’s efforts in the previous generation and Newton made his move and raided the Scholastic Inc. and established himself as the new founder. Bye Bye Aristotle, Long Live Newton.
Newton established Doctors of Philosophy as the dominant members of the academic scholasticism over the previously dominant Doctors of Theology. When Newton entered Cambridge Doctors of Theology were dominant and the language of scholasticism was Latin. When Newton died the language of scholasticism has become the Newtonian calculus and the people who teach calculus, Doctors of Philosophy, have become the top Doctors of the realm.
Newton is a supernaturalized being ^
The authority of the new scholasticism did not come from a supernatural being but from a supernaturalized being. Newton clearly saw that deification of himself was a possibility with the marketing tools available to him. Up to that time only rulers and tyrants were allowed to become celebrities by branding themselves as deities. Newton broke this trend. Newton paved the way for the celebrity cult culture of today by democratizing the process of branding.
Newton the supernaturalized being claimed that the authority of his book did not come from the authority of Scholastic Doctors, or the authority of a supernatural being but from the authority of mathematics and the authority of experiment.
Doesn’t every dictator claim that the authority of his regime comes from the people and not from himself? Doesn’t every dictator claim that he replaced the previous dictator and established democracy. Then you observe that in that democracy 99.9 per cent of the population voted for the dictator who happens to be the sole candidate.
How does Newtonism differ from this fraud when you look at miracles marketed as experiments by Newtonian Doctors? How can you call what Coulomb did an experiment? Coulomb wanted to prove that electricity too obeyed Newton’s laws. Coulomb built a gadget and made three sloppy measurements and this “experiment” became a physics law on Newton’s authority alone. In the Newtonist religion a definition made by using a gadget is called an experiment.
Teaching Newtonist religion in Public Schools violates our Freedom of Science ^
